I realize it’s been awhile, but I doubt anyone has really noticed. I guess I’ll give it a shot and try to post more.
Loss of a comedy legend. George Carlin (1937 – 2008)

As I’m sure just about everyone knows by now (I know I’m over a day late, but I’m lazy, so sue me.), but Sunday evening marked the passing of George Carlin. It’s an understatement to say it’s difficult to sum up the life of such a great entertainer. Comedian, actor, writer, former radio DJ, free speech advocate, Carlin did it all. During his long career Carlin put out 23 comedy albums, 14 television specials, and 3 books. Probably best known for his ‘7 words you can never say on television’ bit, Carlin sparked national controversy in 1972 after preforming the bit on stage in Milwaukee. After the show he was arrested for disturbing the peace, but was later cleared of charges when a judge ruled he was protected by the Constitution’s guarantee of free speech. Although when the bit was aired by a New York radio station (WBAI I believe.), the supreme court ruled that the government had the right to censor radio stations.
Personally, I feel as though I’ve lost a small part of myself with his passing. George was always one of my favorite comedians, and I have been a huge fan of his for nearly 20 years. I can remember watching my first Carlin HBO special when I was about 12 or so. Granted, at the time, I didn’t have a clue as to why the audience was laughing at most of his material, but I still enjoyed watching all the same. I must have watched that same special (Doin’ it again – 1990) over 50 times. It wasn’t until I was older that I began to see the genius in his work. Since then I’ve went on to see all of his tv specials numerous times, and read all 3 of his books. Without a doubt, it was watching his performances that helped shape me into the person I am today. Some would say this is a bad thing, but I’d tend to disagree. Carlin had a way of making you open your eyes, take a step back and look at things. And more often than not, you found yourself saying ‘geez, we’re pretty well fucked up!’. My biggest regret is not ever getting the chance to see one of his shows live. His passing is a profound loss, but his contributions will be long lasting, and never forgotten. And for those of you who may not be all that familiar with his work, I suggest checking out the dvd ‘On location: George Carlin at Phoenix’.
“The world is a big theatre-in-the round as far as I’m concerned, and I’d love to watch it spin itself into oblivion, Tune in and watch the human adventure. … That’s what I want heaven to be.” -George Carlin

It seems like with every passing year the collective IQ of our fast food workers lowers another 5 points. Is ‘No pickles’ that hard of a concept to deal with? I mean for christ sake, the registers have pictures on it! Press the picture of the hamburger, then the picture of the cheese, then the picture of the pickles with the red X over top of it. There! Done! Was that so hard?
Now, I’m not much of a soccer fan, in fact I think it’s a faggy game played by a bunch of queers wearing shin guards and ugly shorts, but after reading this story, I’m thinking of giving it a shot. Thats just what the world needs. More topless soccer games. Hell, why stop there! Topless volleyball, topless gymnastics, topless ballroom dancing. (Ok, maybe that last one isn’t such a great idea.) I’d bet ESPN would double it’s ratings if they’d cover topless sports too. I know I’d watch.

Yeah, well on paper I’m sure a lot of things seem like a good idea, then turn out to be epic disasters. Lets see just how this turns out.

So, I think it’s only fair that I give everyone fair warning, but pay attention, because this is the only one you’re going to get. For the most part this blog will probably be considered NSFW. I’m one of the most un-PC people I know of. I find a way to offend most everyone I come in contact with, and I have zero tolerance for stupidity. I think freedom of speech has been kicked around and swept under the rug for the most part. This is most certainly not a blog for children, so don’t expect or ask me to keep it child friendly. If you don’t want your kids seeing or hearing certain things, maybe you should step in and pay attention to what they’re doing instead of expecting everyone else to edit themselves because you’re a half-assed parent.
That being said, here’s what you can expect. Rants about life and stupidity, and my dislike/distrust of society, mixed in with a little pop culture, technology, humor and maybe some good looking women just for the hell of it. (Sex sells you know) Basically I want to give the rest of the world a brief glimpse of what goes on inside my head. So buckle up, it’s going to be a long strange ride.
